Trend-familiar skiers
Big Airs, Halfpipes, Quarterpipes, Slopestyle, Big Mountain and Ski-Cross: these are the names of the latest kinds of contest one must know if they want to come across as a “cool” trend-familiar skier.
The young skiers would also appear to have taken a similar attitude toward their clothing. You will see them wearing excessively large trousers and jackets just like the snowboarders.
New School is also a part of the permanent repertoire of the ski manufacturers!
New Schoolers prefer extremely short boards for Pipes and Big Air - boards that are very carefully tailored, and curved up at the rear as well as at the front (in the case of Twin Tips). Meanwhile, the Freeride trend embraces skis that are relatively long - about 1.80m to 1.95m – and also very wide, meaning that they are well-suited for use in deep snow. As a result, the trend-familiar skiers of today have a specific set of skis for every individual style!
